One
paragraph in your Will can make the difference of a lifetime
What
is a Will?
Your last will
and testament is a legal document that expresses your will or intent
for the distribution of your estate, your property and assets, after
your death.
What
is a Bequest?
A bequest is simply
a gift made through a will. A bequest to the Placer SPCA is a vital
and continuing resource that strengthens its ability to provide
refuge for innocent animals until they find new homes.

How
to make a bequest:
Your will is one
of the most important documents you will ever sign. Below are some
sample wordings that you can use in your own will; however, we recommend
you speak to an estate planning attorney to design an estate plan
that works best for you. We also encourage you to e-mail or call
the Fund Development Associate at Placer SPCA at 916-782-7722, ext.
102 for more information about planned giving opportunities, including
bequests.
Specific Bequest
"I hereby
give and bequeath to the Placer County SPCA, a nonprofit 501 (c)(3)
organization located at 150 Corporation Yard Road, Roseville,
CA 95678, tax ID # 94-2607682, the sum of $ ____ to be used for
its general purposes."
Residuary
Bequest
"I hereby
give and bequeath to the Placer County SPCA, a nonprofit 501 (c)(3)
organization located at 150 Corporation Yard Road, Roseville,
CA 95678, tax ID # 94-2607682, all the rest, residue and remainder
of my estate, both real and personal, after providing for the
specific provisions of the Will, to be used for its general purposes."
(For a gift less than 100% of the rest, residue and remainder
of the estate, delete "all" and choose a percentage.)"
A Will is just
a small part of the estate planning that you can do to ensure your
assets will go a long way in both helping your surviving loved ones
and helping leave the world a better place. A bequest to the Placer
SPCA allows you to make a gift without taking away from your current
income and will help the SPCA take care of hundreds of homeless
animals in the future.
What
about estate planning for my pets?
Often people forget
to make plans for their pets in the event that something happens
to them. Your will is a place where you can designate who is to
have guardianship of your pets in the event you can no longer care
for them (it is a good idea to ask people first). Click
