The Placer SPCA recommends having your dog or cat microchipped, even if they typically remain indoors. During a move, a trip, or during times of unusual activity in your home your pet may be more likely to dash outside and become disoriented. When your pet has a microchip, an animal shelter or veterinary clinic can obtain your contact information by scanning the chip and requesting the information from the manufacturer.
If your pet already has a microchip, be sure to keep your information current with the manufacturer when you move or change phone numbers. Placer SPCA will scan your pet for free to determine if they already have a microchip.
