An organization like
the Placer SPCA is only as good as our
volunteers - and our volunteers are the
best!
With the dedicated assistance of our
volunteers, the Placer SPCA is able to
maintain high quality care of the animals

innovative programs and services to the
community. If you love animals and would like to
make a difference in their lives, we would
love for you to join our team of dedicated
volunteers.

What motivated you to volunteer at Placer SPCA?
I wanted to give back to the community in some way and have always loved animals. It is a win-win situation. I give back, but I receive much more from the animals than I give to them.
What do you like best about volunteering?
I like when I foster a sick or unsocialized animal and they turn the corner with love, care, and patience and then get adopted. It's very rewarding. In all the years of fostering, we have only kept one mama cat! She was over-stressed in the shelter but at our house the kids carry her around like a baby; she's the best cat ever, just shy to everyone else!
My children were only very small when I started fostering and as a consequence they have become adept at handling small animals, and have loved playing with them. It's hard parting with them when they're ready to go up for adoption but I'm proud to say we haven't kept a single kitten and all our kittens got adopted.
What do you like best about the Placer SPCA?
Where do I start? I am overwhelmed with the staff there! They are all amazing people! Some of my fosters have been so sick and fading, but the staff tube fed them, gave fluids subcutaneously with a needle, given meds, special food. Just going above and beyond what I would ever have expected!
How many animals do you have at home?
We have three dogs, six cats, two rabbits, and as of recently only one rat. And 100% are from rescues, mostly Placer SPCA. All of our animals were once unwanted pets. One of our cats was at the PSPCA for a year! One dog came from New Orleans, a Katrina victim.
All of our volunteers are special! Once a month, an active volunteer is randomly selected to feature on this page. It could be you! Sign up for a Volunteer Orientation and join our team.
